Welcome to the Tactical Fitness section of Firefighter Craftsmanship.
There are many aspects of our job that we have absolutely no control
over. Our feeling is that your fitness as a firefighter Is not only
something that’s entirely under your control, it’s relatively easy to
make it an asset with good information and personal fortitude.
Whether you’re a career firefighter or volunteer, whether you work on
a busy truck company or the slowest engine company in your city, it
doesn’t matter. The next time the tones drop could be the call that
defines your career. It could also be the call where your level of
fitness makes the difference of success or failure. You signed up to
do the job and it’s your responsibility to be the best that you can for
yourself, for your crew, for the other firefighters, and for the citizens.
Prioritizing your fitness as a firefighter isn’t optional, it’s a must.
As the site develops, we will be providing resources to help you train
as a tactical athlete, which like it or not, is exactly what you are. Here
you’ll find blog posts related to health and fitness, workouts that can
be completed as individuals or as a crew, information on nutrition and
recovery, as well as links to other relevant resources.
